Net Operation
  • The operation of an organization of stations capable of direct communication on a common channel or frequency. Note: Nets (netted operations) are ordered conferences whose participants have common information needs or similar functions to perform. Nets are characterized by adherence to standard formats. They are responsive to a common supervisor, called the "net controller" or "net control station," whose functions include permitting access to the net and maintaining circuit discipline.
